Position: Maintenance Mechanic

Shift:                             Midnight
Reports To:                 Maintenance Supervisor
Status:                         6 month contract with opportunity to flip to fulltime employment

Position Summary:         

  • This position is responsible for ensuring that all equipment remains in good working condition.
  • Preventative Maintenance is to be performed and documented on all machinery on a regular basis to ensure efficient production operations and compliance with governing legislation.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Troubleshoot, repair and install high speed filling machines with a working knowledge of electrical to allow efficient repair/replacement results.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance and regular work orders and account for inventory and labour on computerized maintenance system.
  • Perform documented regular preventative maintenance checklists on machinery, which includes but is not limited to pumps, chains, belts, pulleys, sprockets, control panels, valves, air solenoids, actuators, oil levels.
  • Inspect boiler on a daily basis for salt and chemical levels.
  • Ensure that coders are in good working order.
  • Inspect and maintain all electrical cords.
  • Assist the production lines with changeovers and set ups.
  • Identify and report identified hazards and fulfill all Health & Safety, WHMIS, MSDS, and GMP policy requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
  • Licensed Millwright, certified to work in Ontario.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic controls, pneumatics and hydraulics, and hands on experience with high speed filling machines required.
  • Superior knowledge of packaging line set up, adjustment and maintenance.
  • Boiler experience an asset.
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
  • Physically able to stand for long periods of time and perform all manual aspects of the job including but not limited to bending, twisting, lifting.
  • Able to work on the Midnight Shift (11pm to 7am) as well as support shifts as required (24 hour/7 day week schedule).
  • Accustomed to working with computerized maintenance and inventory reporting systems.
  • Excellent English verbal and written skills.
  • Self directed, motivated team player open to new technology with a sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Ability to make priority based decisions to support operations.
  • Ability to help other departments without struggling or calling for help.
  • Autonomy to make technical improvements, recommendations and act on them.

Position: Chemical Validation Analyst & Laboratory Technician

Shift:                             Afternoon (3pm-11pm)
Status:                         Fulltime

Position Summary:         

  • The testing of alternative raw materials, in existing formulations testing for equivalency in performance and function, as possible alternative sources.
  • To assist with resolution of batching issues on the evening shift, in conjunction with the Senior Chemist and Director of Research and Development (R&D), where needed.
  • Preparation, modification and development of laboratory samples under the guidance of the senior chemists given customer requirements according to prescribed standards.
  • Determine chemical, physical and organoleptic characteristics.
  • Perform tests, maintain data, prepare laboratory reports and communicate with chemists and manager to ensure product quality.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Preparing batches/samples, with alternative or substitute raw materials, testing these for suitability and functionality across all impacted formulations.
  • To assist batching personnel with batch issues on the evening shift by recommending suitable fixes, or by liaising with the Senior Chemist or Director R&D where needed to obtain resolution.
  • Preparing batches/samples, given the desired product requirements.
  • Execution of standard laboratory testing.
  • Manufacture of formulations to achieve desired product characteristics.
  • To recommend changes to formulas to improve characteristics and cost effectiveness.
  • Set up, adjust and operate laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Packaging and labeling stablility samples prior to production.
  • Document all observations, experiments, test results and information into lab book, and to maintain the database with the latest information.
  • Clean laboratory equipment and perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Post secondary education in Chemistry or equivalent required.
  • 1 – 3 years previous applicable experience in laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in product groupings similar to products manufactured by Apollo.
  • Experience with MS Office products.
  • Ability to work overtime on occasion as required.
  • Ability to work on the afternoon shift on occasion as required.

Position: Customer Service Representative

Supervises:                N/A

Position Summary:         

  • Manage and maintain client accounts, deliver exceptional customer service and complete inside sales.
  • Work in a supportive role to the Director of Sales & Product Development in a variety of functions from the development and launch of new products through to the management and maintenance of accounts.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Manage client owned inventory with the Planning and Production departments
  • Liaise between specific clients and internal staff at Apollo
  • Address, respond and follow up with client inquiries regarding pre-development, first runs, artwork/sample status, shipments etc.
  • Create new item sheets
  • Co-ordinate all necessary functions with internal staff to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Liaise with order entry and shipping for accuracy and successful arrival of goods
  • Organize and facilitate new projects and ensure their successful completion
  • Provide quotations to existing and new clients
  • Hold regular meetings with clients in regards to customer service as needed
  • Proactively, effectively and efficiently problem-solve client issues
  • Monitor inventory stock levels and follow up with Production if not at desired level. Ensure that a minimum product level is maintained for each client. 
  • Monitoring new launch projects for both new and existing accounts
  • Coordinate sending product samples to customers as required
  • Manage and maintain up to date customer profiles
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by developing relationships and serving as one of the customer's primary point of contact on client-specific issues.

Education & Experience:
  • 1-3 years experience in a customer service role required, preferably in inside sales, inbound call centre or account management level position.
  • Previous experience in the health & beauty care industry is an asset, experience in consumer packaged goods industry preferred.
  • Must have consciousness and passion for health, wellness and beauty trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and proactively, as well as being able to excel in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with impeccable organizational and time-management skills.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and excel at sales and marketing, customer service, light inventory control and administration.
  • Post Secondary education required in a related and applicable field is required.
  • Superior problem solving skills - must be resourceful and creative with solutions.
  • Energetic and positive attitude with exceptional English communication skills required.
  • Ability to travel occasionally in GTA or other client locations may be required.

Position Summary::         

  • Ensure batches are pre-weighed and batched on time to meet production needs.
  • Ensure all employees follow all safety and personal protective equipment rules, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Communicate with Planning, Production and Scheduling regarding any delays or shortages of batches.
  • Train workers in safety, pre-weighing, batching, and colouring procedures and complete all required documentation.
  • Supervision of pre-weigh/compounding and chemical warehouse workers.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed correctly for all aspects of the department.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Oversee staff to ensure that safety/SOP/GMP/company guidelines are followed.
  • Ensure batches are produced in accordance with the production schedule.
  • Ensure pre-weigh and chemical picking are scheduled and staffed to achieve the production schedule.
  • Coordinate and communicate all overtime shift sign up and throughput.
  • Responsible to track all batch cards.
  • Ensure all inventory movements are completed by chemical pickers, pre-weigh and batching and all chemicals are issued in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure the safe and timely unloading and loading of tanker trucks.
  • Support the pre-weighers and batchers when issues arise and produce batches/coloured batches if needed.
  • Attend required courses on Health and Safety, confined space entry and workplace accident investigations.
  • Work as a resource with Research and Development on any changes that are made to the batching procedures in order to make the necessary adjustments to the master documents.
  • Communicate and help resolve employee concerns with management.
  • Work with maintenance to ensure defective equipment is repaired.
  • Responsible to ensure that previously made bulk is re-tested and consumed prior to new bulk being used by production.
  • Responsible to attend daily planning meetings.
  • Responsible to ensure all lift truck inspection sheets are completed and collected each shift.
  • Responsible to determine root cause for batches that are non conforming and identify and implement corrective actions with documentation.
  • Responsible to provide feedback for reasons why required batches will not be completed as well as an action plan to complete the required batches.
  • Responsible for all agency staffing as well as reducing agency staffing when demands do not require their assistance.
  • Responsible for training of all staff and documentation of this training provided.
  • Responsible for progressive discipline of all staff as well as all documentation relating to the progressive discipline.
  • Responsible to monitor the bulk raw material levels and advise of necessary adjustments to the delivery of bulk raw material to meet the production schedule.
  • Responsible to receive bulk raw material and create and forward paperwork to the lab.
  • Responsible to ensure FIFO is followed when bulk raw materials are issued to batch jobs.
  • Responsible to maintain the levels of the thick soaps and ensure pre-weigh and batching are in a positive position at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
